Reducing food waste - Work integration - Food aid

Providing fish to Food Aid

La Fédération des Paniers de la Mer is a non-profit organisation created in 1997 by Emile Guéguen, Director of the Pays Bigouden employment pool committee.

Originated from a request from Mr Larzul, president of the food bank of the Finistere and other food aid charities willing to distribute fish to their recipients but facing the short expiration of the fresh products.

In france, 5 work integration workshops (« chantiers d’insertion ») are part of La Fédération des Paniers de la Mer. They offer social and professional support for individuals in major difficulties and away from employment

In 2024, more than 400 tons tons of fish were distributed to food aid charities, representing around 2 685 000 meals provided (based on a 150g fish portion).
